There’s six weeks until Christmas…but who’s counting? With lots of opportunities for holiday hosting in-between, wine and spirits consultant Renée Sferrazza shared her top spirit choices for true-ly good holiday cocktails.
TRUE Vodka – The Jubilee Cocktail
1 1/2 oz TRUE Vodka
1 1/2 oz dry red wine
1/2 oz St. George spiced pear liqueur
1/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 oz maple syrup
Seltzer, chilled, to top
Garnish: pear fan, freshly grated nutmeg
Steps:
Add vodka, red wine, pear liqueur, lemon juice, and maple syrup to a stemless wine glass.
Fill with ice and top with chilled seltzer.
Stir gently to combine.
Garnish with a pear fan and freshly grated nutmeg.
TRUE Gin – Ice Wine Gimlet
2 oz TRUE Gin
3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
3/4 oz ice wine
Garnish: lime wheel
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake for 10–15 seconds until well chilled.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a lime wheel.
TRUE Dark Rum – Espresso Martini
1 1/4 oz TRUE Dark Rum
1 1/4 oz freshly brewed espresso
1/2 oz orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or triple sec)
1/4 oz crème de cacao (dark or light)
Optional Garnish: coffee beans, grated chocolate
Instructions:
Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Add rum, orange liqueur, crème de cacao, vanilla syrup, and espresso.
Shake for 30-40 seconds until well-chilled.
Strain into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with coffee beans and grated chocolate, if desired.
TRUE Canadian Whisky – Boulevardier
1 1/4 oz TRUE Canadian Whisky
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth
Garnish: orange twist
Steps:
Add whisky, Campari, and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass with ice.
Stir until well-chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with an orange twist.
