2 cool Chilean coastal wines with matching food pairings

Super Wine Girl Angela Aiello and one of Chile’s top winemakers Viviana Navarrete shared two cool coastal wines.

The first one was a 2021 Leyda Sauvignon Blanc from Viña Leyda. This wine has notes of citrus fruit and herbaceous notes that gives it a well balanced crisp and creamy taste. This Sauvignon Blanc is best served at 8-10 °C and pairs well with oysters and strawberries dipped in salt.

The other wine is 2020 Tayú Pinot Noir, which is a collaborative wine project with the Indigenous community in Chile. The Mapuche Community came together with Viviana and the team to teach them their knowledge of the soils in the Araucania Region to produce a style of cool-climate Pinot. The label on the Tayú Pinot Noir was inspired by the people of the village with the vineyards intertwined within their faces.

Both of these wines are available at the LCBO.
