McMaster University welcome back students

First Published:

Universities across the country are gearing up for the return of school. McMaster University in Hamilton is one of them, hoping the school year goes ahead with no COVID restrictions.

The cars were lined up at Mac throughout the day with families dropping off kids at school for their first year of University.  And finally, no COVID restrictions for students or the welcoming volunteers.

McMaster is expecting 4,000 first year students this fall, many are just out of high school and moving into residence.

This will be the first traditional move-in weekend for the University since 2019, with residence at full capacity.

Masks and vaccines are no longer required but the University President warns that ‘if the pandemic and public health advice shifts and government requirements change, we may need to quickly reinstate a mask requirement and a vaccine policy.’

The vigorous welcome back celebrations at McMaster continue tomorrow.
