Man in hospital following shooting in central Hamilton

A 23-year-old man is in hospital following a shooting in central Hamilton.

Officers were called to the area of Barton St. and Oak Ave. around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired.

Hamilton police say the victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say he remains in serious but stable condition.

The investigation has been taken over by the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit.

Detectives believe this was a targetted incident.

Police are looking for a male suspect who was driving a black, four-door vehicle.
