The Interview is a comedy film directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This Is the End). Rogen also stars alongside James Franco and Lizzy Caplan. The film also features Fresh off the Boat star Randall Park as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Diana Bang as a high-ranking official.

In the action-comedy The Interview, Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapoport (Seth Rogen) run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show ‘Skylark Tonight.’ When they discover that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the most unlikely candidates, to ‘take out’ Kim Jong-un.

The Interview was originally slated for release on Christmas Day, but on December 17 the hacker group known as the Guardians of Peace threatened to commit terrorist attacks at theatres that screened the film, leading Sony to cancel the opening. After receiving criticism in the media about their decision, Sony decided to release the film online and allowed theatres to hold screenings at their discretion.

Here in Canada the film can be viewed online at the film’s official website, as well as on YouTube, Google Play, and Xbox Video. And if you’d rather watch in a theatre, screenings of The Interview are slowly beginning to pop up. On January 2nd the film will open at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto and the Film.ca Cinemas in Oakville. Follow the links for ticket information.

The Interview is rated 14A.
