Integrity commission to probe Mayor Bylsma’s participation in protest

First Published:

Niagara Region’s integrity commissioner will investigate Mayor Dave Bylsma’s participation in a lockdown protest in St. Catharines earlier this month.

Regional Chair Jim Bradley was directed to file a complaint with the integrity commissioner on behalf of regional councillors, who also voted to publicly endorse a statement reaffirming council’s commitment to its code of conduct.

This comes after Bylsma, who is mayor of West Lincoln, participated in a protest that saw about 1,000 people gather in St. Catharines on Apr. 10.
