HWDSB launches third-party investigation into racist allegations

The Hamilton Wentworth District School Board has launched a third-party Code of Conduct investigation to address claims of racist activity within the institution.

Allegations of racist and oppressive behaviour were released in the form of a twitter thread by former Student Trustee Ahona Mehdi on Saturday.

In the thread, Mehdi says she is “beyond disturbed to have attended HWDSB schools for 14 years.” She adds that she endured racial gaslighting and micro-aggression.

The HWDSB responded with a statement saying that they are “committed to taking action that builds a culture of equality and inclusion.”
