Hamilton police arrest 2 people in drug trafficking investigation

Hamilton police have arrested two people for allegedly running two illegal psilocybin mushroom businesses, commonly known as “magic mushrooms.”

Investigators carried out a search warrant in the east end of Hamilton and seized over $70,000 worth of psilocybin and psilocybin infused edibles, as well as cash from these two locations.

Officers then arrested a 25-year-old Hamilton woman and a 44-year-old Brantford man.

They are facing charges for possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime under $5,000. The man is also being charged with trafficking psilocybin.

Psilocybin is a restricted drug in Canada and illegal to possess, according to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
