Hamilton names Krown Kafe among businesses with COVID-19 violations

First Published:

We now know which Stoney Creek restaurant was charged for not following COVID-19 rules earlier this month.

In a media briefing on Monday, Hamilton’s director of the city’s emergency operations Paul Johnson said the restaurant in question was Krown Kafe on Queenston Rd.

Johnson said previously that the then-unnamed restaurant’s disregard for COVID-19 protocols was “beyond the pale.”

It was charged for not following provincial orders under the Reopening Ontario Act and fined $3,000.

The restaurant is said to have not been enforcing mask-wearing or physical distancing and did not do contact tracing.

Following public pressure, council voted to publicly name the businesses charged with COVID-19 violations going forward.

That list will be updated weekly.

Krown Kafe isn’t listed on the site as city council’s vote to make the names public came after the charges.
