GO buses to replace trains this weekend on part of Lakeshore West line

First Published:

Metrolinx is urging GO Transit riders to give themselves extra time this weekend as GO buses will replace train service along a large portion of the Lakeshore West line.

Customers will have to take a GO bus between Oakville and West Harbour GO stations beginning Friday at 9 p.m. until end of service Sunday.

“To prepare for upcoming construction of the Burloak Dr. grade separation, we need to move important infrastructure in the corridor,” Metrolinx said in a statement.

“This can only be done when trains are not running.”

GO train service will continue as normal between Oakville GO and Union Station. Trains bound for Niagara Falls will be out of service at Aldershot GO.

Train and bus connections for routes 12, 15, 18 and 21 will also be impacted.

Riders using Presto this weekend are reminded to tap on and off for each portion of their commute, including when switching between vehicles.

Metrolinx is encouraging customers to plan their trips using its website as schedules and connection times have changed for this weekend.

Riders can also check the GO Transit service updates page for real-time details.

Regular service will resume Monday.
