Former Hamilton mayor Bob Bratina set to officially file papers to seek office

First Published:

Former Hamilton mayor Bob Bratina is set to officially file his papers to seek office this morning.

Bratina, a former broadcaster, served as the 56th mayor of Hamilton back in 2010 to 2014. Previously, he served on the Hamilton city council from 2004 to 2010.

He went on to serve as the Liberal member of parliament for the riding of Hamilton East-Stoney Creek from 2015 to 2021, where he chaired the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Committee and served on the ethics and Veterans Affairs Committees.

“In the coming weeks I will continue seeking the views of Hamiltonians and put together a diverse team of the best advisors available,” said Bratina in a statement. “This will be a forward-looking campaign. As a broadcaster and later in elected office, I have spent most of my adult life advocating for the good of this wonderful city, and I look forward to the opportunity of bringing my experience to the service of Hamiltonians again as we meet the challenges ahead.”

Only two other people have registered as candidates so far: Keanin Loomis and Ejaz Butt.
