Experts say ‘shrinkflation’ is impacting Halloween candy

The cost of purchasing holiday treats is hitting the wallets of Canadians much harder.

According to food and retail experts, the impacts of “shrinkflation” are showing this year, and families are paying more money for less candy.

According to a recent poll, surveyed Canadians were also split on whether they plan on handing out candy… the ones who do, intend to spend the same amount as last year.

Experts say the average household spend on Halloween goodies is likely around $50. They add that the product downsizing people are seeing is due to higher sugar and cocoa costs.
