DIY hair products using items from your kitchen

First Published:

Celebrity hairstylist Aaron O’Bryan joined us this morning with some DIY hair products that you can make using items from the kitchen!

Oatmeal and coconut oil scalp scrub

The perfect scrub to say goodbye to nasty buildup and conditions such as dandruff.

1 x cup of oatmeal
1/4 cup of coconut oil
1/4 cup of white/brown sugar
1 x lemon
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and apply to your scalp in the shower. Massage gently for 3 mins in circular motions to stimulate blood flow and eliminate buildup. Shampoo twice rinse and condition.  Don’t forget to refrigerate or freeze to get the most out of your masks.

Volume and Hydrating avocado, banana hair mask

Pump those locks up while hydrating your tresses at the same time.
1 x avocado
2 x bananas
1/4 cup of olive oil
2 x eggs
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Apply mask in the shower on wet or dry hair working from the tips all the way to the mid lengths/roots depending on how dry your hair is and the areas that need attention.  Leave for 10/30 mins, shampoo twice, condition and rinse. Make sure to use lukewarm/cold water to avoid scrambled eggs.
You can refrigerate or freeze this mask to use again.
