Young woman found with gunshot wound in Hamilton alleyway

Hamilton police are investigating after a young woman with a gunshot wound was found in an alleyway.

Police responded to reports of a shooting around 10:30 p.m. Thursday near King St. and Stirton Ave.

When they arrived, officers found the young girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to hospital by Hamilton EMS where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe multiples suspects fled the area running north on Stirton Ave. from King St.

Detectives have been canvassing the area and are currently investigating a motive.
