Yellowknife begins evacuation efforts as wildfires approach

Everyone who lives in Yellowknife – the capital city of the Northwest Territories – have been ordered by authorities to evacuate by Friday, as wildfires quickly close in towards the city.

Leaders in B.C. and Alberta have pledged their support to help those travelling south find shelter.

Reception centres have also been set up in several regions. Meanwhile, officials in the Northwest Territories say the evacuation has been a safe operation so far.
