Wynne trying to reboot teacher talks

Premier Kathleen  Wynne has called a private meeting this morning with the leaders of Ontario’s school boards and teachers unions.

The premier wants to stress the importance of reaching labour agreements between teachers and the boards before the school year starts in the fall.

If a deal is not reached, students from kindergarten to grade 12 will be affected by work-to-rule campaigns.

The unions left the bargaining table earlier this year over school board proposals that they say would lower the quality of education.

Currently, no talks are scheduled between any English language school boards and any of the three big teachers’ unions.
