Woman survives fall into Niagara gorge

A woman is in hospital this morning after falling into the Niagara gorge overnight.

It’s not clear how the woman ended up in the gorge. She may have had a fight with her boyfriend before it happened, but foul play isn’t suspected.

The 38-year-old woman appeared to suffer only minor injuries after she fell over a wall and into the gorge shortly after 3 am.

Rescuers located the woman on a patch of foliage shortly after they received the 911 call.

Police have not released the name of the woman, but say she has been taken to the Greater Niagara General Hospital for a physical assessment.
