Woman refusing to stop giving pigs water

A woman charged with mischief after feeding pigs water on their way to a slaughterhouse in Burlington says nothing will stop her from doing it again.

Anita Krajnc was charged in June after she waited for a truck full of pigs to stop in front of Fearman’s Pork so she could give them a drink. That’s where she and her group Toronto Pig Save gathered again today to protest and once again provide pigs with water.

“What we do is called bearing witness. So when there is a sight of injustice and for animals this is the darkest place. The slaughterhouse is ground zero for them, it is a killing field.”

“We are here for them. I think they want to see compassionate eyes, somebody who cares about them and we want to get their images out there and show people what we see. We see these beautiful animals that look just like my dog.”

She believes pigs should not be labeded as property and their rights need to be protected.
