A loaded school bus hit a car that had broken down, which then hit the driver who was standing on the Burlington Skyway late Wednesday night.
Ontario Provincial Police say the driver — a 61-year-old woman from St. Catharines — was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Officers say she was standing next to the concrete wall on the side of the highway when the bus hit her vehicle, which then lurched forward striking her.
“The vehicle was blocking a live lane of traffic as a school bus approached over the crest of the Burlington Skyway in the right most lane — the fourth lane of the highway,” Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says in a video posted on X.
“The driver was unable to negotiate and avoid a collision.”
OPP say there were 36 students, three teachers and a driver on the school bus, and luckily none of them were injured.
No one else was in the woman’s car.
