Woman dead after being run down near Ohsweken

A woman is dead and a man is in hospital after they were struck by a car near Ohsweken last night.

Haldimand OPP say the car’s driver had lost control and rolled over at Indian Line and New Credit Road just before 7.

Mark Foster told CHCH News “there was a vehicle that was travelling eastbound, and for some unknown reasons left the road, and when the vehicle came back on the road came across in to the north shoulder and struck two pedestrians.”

“There were actually four pedestrians walking along the north shoulder and a female pedestrian was struck and has died; a second male pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

The other two pedestrians and the driver of the car, a woman in her forties, were not injured. There’s no word yet on charges.
