Woman dead after skydiving incident Sunday at Wainfleet’s Skydive Burnaby

A woman has died following a skydiving incident Sunday at Skydive Burnaby in Wainfleet.

Niagara Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Bryce Brunarski said first responders were called at 3:30 p.m.

“Our skydiving community suffered a tragic loss of an experienced skydiver, who was conducting a high performance canopy maneuver,” said Tara Pitt, co-owner of Skydive Burnaby.

“Our deepest thoughts are with those who are grieving this incident.”

Bystanders performed CPR on the woman before emergency crews arrived and took over.

An Ornge air ambulance responded but was later called off when the skydiver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pitt said the woman was not from the Niagara region.
