Woman charged after SUV slams into light pole in Hamilton

A woman has been charged with careless driving after an SUV knocked over a light pole in downtown Hamilton.

It happened just before 1 a.m. Tuesday on Hunter and John streets in front of the GO station.

Video of the scene shows the pole was wedged beneath the vehicle. The SUV sustained extensive damage to the front end.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
