Wolves is a Canadian supernatural drama written and directed by David Hayter, who is making his feature film directorial debut. Hayter’s previous work includes scripting feature films like X-Men, X-2, and Watchmen. The film stars Lucas Till, Jason Momoa, Merritt Patterson, John Pyper-Ferguson and Stephen McHattie.

Popular high school student Cayden Richards wakes from a horrific nightmare, only to realize that he’s living it… He is changing into something vicious, unpredictable and wild. Forced to hit the road after the brutal murder of his parents, Cayden tries to hunt down the truth of what he is. In the remote, mountain town of Lupine Ridge, he discovers others like him — including the beautiful Angelina, a young woman caught between two ancient clans of “wolves.” And when he finally discovers the shocking truth behind his ancestry, Cayden realizes there is only one way to save the woman he loves… a grisly fight to the death against forces more savage than he could have ever imagined.

Hayter was determined to present his werewolves as smart and more human-like, not rabid canines. “I wanted to really understand the overlap because that is the core of what’s most compelling, most cinematic and the least problematic. I wanted to avoid putting snouts on actors because it does nothing more than make everyone look like they have big noses. I didn’t want the ears to be too big. I didn’t want them to be slavering or ugly or hairy or monsters because in reality wolves are not at all like that.”

Wolves is rated 14A.
