Witnesses wanted in December pedestrian ‘fail to remain’ collision

Hamilton police are appealing to the public for assistance in a December ‘fail to remain’ motor vehicle collision that left two pedestrians with serious injuries.
On December 17 of last year police responded to Cootes Drive and Main Street West in the city around 8:20 p.m. after two pedestrians were hit by an SUV at a crosswalk on Cootes Drive.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene in a northbound direction. Witnesses described the SUV as an older-model, blue vehicle — possibly a Dodge Durango.
The victims were transported to hospital after sustaining serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police urge anyone with information to come forward — including motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage.
Additionally, any residents or businesses nearby with surveillance cameras are also asked to check for any relevant recordings and contact the Collision Reconstruction Office at 905-546-4753 or reconunit@hamiltonpolice.ca.
