Witnesses help police catch thief in Hamilton’s east end

A Hamilton man is facing charges after witnesses helped police catch a thief red-handed.
Shortly before midnight Sunday, witnesses noticed a damaged grey Honda Civic parked in the area of King St. East and Rosedale Ave.
Police say a man was seen rummaging through the cabin of the vehicle and then took several items from inside.
The witnesses captured the theft on camera and police were notified about the incident.
“Police viewed the picture and received information on his last known whereabouts. The suspect was located a couple of blocks away. He was arrested, searched and in possession of the items,” said Hamilton police in a news release.
A 48-year-old man has been charged with theft, possession stolen property, mischief, and fail to comply with probation.
