Wiggins signs endorsement deal

Andrew Wiggins, who is set to be traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a blockbuster deal on August 23rd, returned to his old stomping grounds today.

The 19-year old Wiggins, who was the first overall pick in the recent NBA draft, was at his old public school in Vaughan for a photo shoot for a sports nutrition company that has signed him to an endorsement deal. NBA rules prohibit the Cavaliers and T-wolves from speaking publicly about the impending deal. Wiggins’ former coach in Kansas, Bill Self, said yesterday that Wiggins told him he’d welcome the trade with Minnesota, that it would be better for him than staying with the Cavs. Media were told that Wiggins would not take any questions about the deal. But that didn’t stop reporters from trying to get Wiggins to talk about it.

Andrew Wiggins: “Anywhere, for any team. I can play for any team. (Do you want to be the franchise guy?) I don’t know. What ever happens is out of my control. I’m not worrying about that right now. I’m just having fun. (Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?) What ever God wants. God has a plan for me. (What about becoming a Raptor in the future?) The hometown love will always be there I try to do good for the city. I know the city tries to do good for me.”
