Environment Canada says the Niagara region is expecting snow squalls to continue into this evening with up to 20 centimetres of snow expected. Here’s a list of what’s closed due to inclement weather:
Niagara Region
- Meals on Wheels Port Colborne-Wainfleet has cancelled deliveries today.
- Student transportation is cancelled today for all schools in south Niagara (Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Wainfleet), for: District School Board of Niagara; Niagara Catholic District School Board; Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority.
- Other bus and taxi routes in the Lake Erie area as well as throughout Niagara are also affected based on routing through the storm area.
The decision to cancel transportation was based on forecasted snowsqualls as well as snowfall accumulations and the ability of school vehicles to navigate secondary roadways along with the school day forecast.
Schools are open.
- There will be no late activity bus service for Niagara Falls, Welland, Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Wainfleet this evening.
Families are asked to visit here for a complete list of canceled routes and service delays.
- Niagara Centre YMCA and the Port Colborne YMCA programs are cancelled for the evening. This includes all fitness classes and lessons.
- Niagara Centre’s pool is closed for the day.
- Port Colborne’s pool will close at 2:30 p.m., with a potential reopening later today (conditions permitting).
Facilities remain open for general use currently.
YMCA Youth Action Program at McKay Public School is also cancelled.
