Here’s what to expect tonight on the Evening News at 6 p.m.

Adam Atkinson is on the desk tonight.

The 55th annual JUNO Awards are underway tonight. It’s happening right in the heart of downtown Hamilton at TD Coliseum where the best in Canadian music will be recognized for their accomplishments. Simone Gavros will join us live from the orange carpet catching up with some of the artists.

Ahead of tonight’s big ceremony, 40 awards were handed out last night at the Junos gala at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Stars like Sarah McLachlan, The Beaches and Maestro Fresh Wes all took home statuettes — and talked about what an honour it is to be recognized by their home country of Canada. Emily Tayler was at the gala last night and has the story.

Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Hamilton today for the JUNO Awards – he also made a stop this afternoon at Dofasco.
