A woman has been sent to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in West Lincoln.
The call came in to police, fire and ambulance just after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Police say that the black pickup truck was travelling eastbound when it broadsided a van travelling northbound.
There were two men in the pickup truck. Police say both were very shaken up by the incident but otherwise uninjured.
There were six people in the van. The female driver and a teenaged passenger. Both were unconscious when the first emergency units arrived on the scene. They were taken to Hamilton General Hospital.
Four kids were also in the van and were taken to McMaster Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The people in the van are said to be from the Dunnville area and the people in the truck are from the Smithville area.
The Niagara Regional Police reconstruction team is on the scene now trying to determine exactly what happened here.
Detective Staff Sgt. Dave Hunter of the Niagara Regional Police: “Reconstruction team will try and determine what happened from the evidence at the scene and from speaking to the drivers of the vehicles eventaully, and to any witnesses that were involved in this.”
Rural Road 65 or Silver Road and Caistorville Road will remain closed for hours while the reconstruction team does their work here to try and determine exactly what happened.
