Welland hospital fighting drug-resistant bacteria
An outbreak of MRSA has been declared at the surgical unit of Welland’s hospital.
The bacteria was discovered on the 4th floor, and was declared an outbreak after the number of hospital associated cases became higher than the normal threshold. There have been five cases since September 4th and there are currently two cases in the unit.
The hospital has implemented all infection prevention and control measures to stop the spread.
