Welland food bank donates nearly 8,000 lbs of food to Dunnville charity

A food bank in Welland has donated nearly 8,000 lbs of fresh produce and pasta to a charity in Dunnville to help people in need ahead of Thanksgiving.
Volunteers with Julia’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Charity began handing out food at their 108 Bridge St., location at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Within two hours, they had helped more than 200 people.
They say they expect to see around 350 people by 4 p.m. and will distribute food until their storage truck is empty.
Paul Marchese, owner of Julia’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Charity, said many struggling people came to them worried about Thanksgiving.
The charity has been helping local families in need prepare for the holiday season, with food, meals and festive experiences since 2023.
The Dunnville charity has been the victim of theft at least twice in the last year, where a donation jar filled with money was stolen each time.
