A farm in Welland is seeing overwhelming support after eight horses were attacked at its boarding and training facility Friday.

Last week, eight horses were stabbed at Eagle Wing Ranch in a rural area outside Welland.

The farm is located in the area near Buchner Road and Highway 140, and is used as a horse boarding facility.

One of the horses was found dead, and another was sent to the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph for treatment.

A GoFundMe campaign hoping to raise $10,000 for vet care, has now reached over $50,000.

Organizers of the campaign say they will be able to clear the bills, install a security system at the ranch, and help the owners out with revenue loss.

They say they will also arrange a memorial gift for the owner of the horse who was killed, and arrange trauma counselling for affected staff and clients.

Anyone interested in contributing to the GoFundMe can find the fundraiser here.

Niagara police are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009487.

To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers of Niagara at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online. Crime Stoppers may offer cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest.
