Halton police arrest three men, seize $300K in drug trafficking investigation

Halton police have arrested three men and seized $300,000 worth of drugs and additional items following a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers say the investigation, called “Project Nightshade,” began back in October 2024 when they began to look into drug trafficking within Halton Region.

Two search warrants were conducted in this investigation resulting in the three arrests.

The first search was on July 7 at two residences in the Waterloo Region.

As a result, 40-year-old Jory Fortunes from Cambridge and 41-year-old Justin Brown of Kitchener were arrested for their alleged involvement.

Later, on July 30, 21-year-old Gabriel Brown of Mississauga was arrested following a search of a residence and two vehicles in Peel Region.

Police have charged the three men with a combined 20 counts including 14 for Gabriel Brown.

Investigators seized a Glock .45 gun with ammunition and an extended magazine, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, 750 grams of fentanyl and several other drugs among other items.

The three men have been held in custody pending their upcoming bail hearing.
