Welland cyclist struck

A 20-year old man was seriously injured in Welland late Monday afternoon when he was hit by a pickup while riding his bicycle on Canal Bank Street.

The man was unconscious when paramedics arrived. They rushed to the trauma unit at Hamilton General by air ambulance. The intersection of Canal Bank and Ontario Road will be closed for hours while police investigate.
