‘We need to get those guns off the streets’: Hamilton’s mayor addresses gun violence

In a recent six-minute interview with CHCH News, Hamilton’s mayor addressed the uptick of violent crime through the city.

Mayor Andrea Horwarth says she’s very concerned by the fact that there has been 39 shootings throughout the city in 2024, calling it “unacceptable.”

“People deserve a safe city, people deserve safe neighborhoods, and whether it’s downtown or whether it’s Stoney Creek, or whether it’s the mountain, we need to get those guns off the streets, and make sure that our neighborhoods are safe.”
