Waterdown runners honour Charley Mae Stewart in 5k run for Aicardi syndrome

VIDEO: It’s a rare disease with only a few cases in Canada. Those with Aicardi syndrome have what is called a life-limiting diagnosis and often don’t make it to adulthood according to experts. Joe Sams Leisure Park in Waterdown was the site of a 5k run Sunday, honouring the life of Charley Mae Stewart who’s life was taken by this disease. Three hundred and seventy runners came out to honour Charlie Mae and raise funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital, all wearing her signature sunglasses.
