Watchdog investigating fatal police shooting in Sudbury, Ont.

SUDBURY — Ontario’s police watchdog says it’s investigating a fatal police-involved shooting this morning in Sudbury, Ont.

The Special Investigations Unit was called in after Sudbury police said an individual died during an “interaction” with the force.

Police say officers responded to a break-and-enter report around 5:24 a.m.

They say officers arrived to an address on Clinton Street in Sudbury and engaged an armed individual.

Police say that person died during the interaction.

The SIU has invoked its mandate and says more information will be released later.
