Transport Canada has issued a recall on over 30,000 popular SUVs and trucks.
The culprit? Improperly attached hinge covers for liftgates and display screen software problems.
One recall notice affects 20,521 Ford Escape models from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025.
“On certain vehicles, the hinge covers for the liftgate may not have been properly attached,” the notice reads.
“As a result, the cover(s) could loosen and detach from the vehicle.”
In a separate notice, Transport Canada recalled over 10,000 Ram trucks from the years 2025 and 2026 due to a software problem with display screens.
The release warns that if there’s a malfunction, “you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including gear selection, warnings, and tell-tales.”
Automakers will notify owners in writing if their vehicle is affected, and may advise taking the car to a dealership for repairs or an inspection.
