Metrolinx has shared a shocking video of the moment a GO train hit the back of a dump truck that was stopped on the tracks at a railway crossing in Markham, Ont., Thursday morning.

The collision happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Kennedy Road near Unionville GO station, Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay wrote in a post on LinkedIn later that day.

The train can be seen in the video slowing down and blaring its horn before crashing into the back of the dump truck on the tracks. Several vehicles are seen stopped in front of and behind the dump truck.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

“Events like this are a powerful reminder that safety at crossings can never be taken for granted,” Lindsay wrote in the post.

“Please obey all signals and warning lights. NEVER enter a crossing unless you are certain you can fully clear it, and never stop on the tracks.”

Commuters experienced delays on the Stouffville GO line Thursday due to the collision.

“Thank you also to the many customers who were impacted for their patience and understanding,” Lindsay wrote.
