Ontario’s Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford said the province is prepared to react to impending tariffs on imported aluminum and steel into the U.S.

Ford said he spoke with CEOs of Canadian steel companies Stelco and Dofasco Monday morning ahead of the potential tariffs threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump on imported steel and aluminum.

Ford said he will wait for Trump’s official announcement Monday afternoon before reacting to the tariffs, but the province is ready to react “hard” and “fast.”

Ford met with workers at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793.

Mayor of Oakville Rob Burton also spoke at the announcement.
