Warmer temperatures hit Hamilton

Warmer temperatures across Southern Ontario had many people heading outdoors today.

While the sun didn’t come out until later in the day in Hamilton, temperatures stayed around three degrees all day. That’s a major improvement from the cold snap we experienced earlier this week. The relief from the cold made it a perfect day to go for a walk, but some ice on sidewalks and roads may have made for some slippery conditions.

The OPP are reminding people to be careful near waterways since the melting ice and snow will cause water levels to rise.

Snowmobilers are being asked to park their rides for the time being. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is concerned about the base snow layer on trails. With the rise in temperatures, snowmobiles can damage the trails and require them to be rebuilt from scratch. Sledders are urged to stay off the trails until colder temperatures return.
