Unifor has reached a tentative agreement with Fiat-Chrysler just minutes before last night’s 11:59pm strike deadline.
The union represents nearly 10,000 workers in Brampton, Etobicoke and Windsor. The four-year deal includes 2% wage increases in years one and four, a ratification bonus, lump-sum payments and benefit improvements.
Unifor national president Jerry Dias says the deal also includes a committment from Fiat-Chrysler to spend $325-million to rebuild the paint shop at the automaker’s assembly plant in Brampton.
Dias also says the agreement mirrors one reached with General Motors last month. Workers are set to vote on the deal Sunday. Dias says if the deal is approved, the union will then open talks with Ford.
