U.S. senators order investigation into Pete Hegseth after Venezuelan air strikes

Democratic senators from the United States are calling for an investigation into U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, claiming that the second air strike on an alleged Venezuelan drug trafficking boat constitutes a war crime.

Hegseth told reporters he didn’t stick around after the first strike and that the admiral who authorized the move made the right call, and added that we have his back.

There’s been a lot of blow back from the Democrats but we’re also hearing bipartisan support for a potential probe into these strikes from the Senates Armed Services Committee.

All the while the Trump administration is maintaining its stance on the strikes and promising there’ll be more.

Since September there have been approximately 22 strikes on boats in the both the Carribean and Pacific Ocean resulting in 83 deaths.

Should Trump wish to escalate his military operation and deploy troops on the ground, many scholars say he would require congressional approval.
