U.S. reports a record number of COVID-19 deaths

Wednesday marked the deadliest day in the COVID-19 pandemic south of the border.

This comes as the country recorded over 221,000 new infections.

The U.S. reported 3,124 deaths on Wednesday, according to Johns Hopkins University.

That single-day total is more than the number of people killed on Sept. 11, Hurricane Katrina and the Pearl Harbor attack.

The Covid Tracking Project is reporting a record 106,668 COVID-19 hospitalizations.
