Squirt gun prompted lockdown at 2 schools in Burlington

Two schools in Burlington had their security protocols activated after a squirt gun was mistaken for a pistol.

Notre Dame Secondary School was put into lockdown, and St. Timothy’s Catholic Elementary School was placed into a hold and secure around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Halton police say that there was a report of a firearm sighting in a nearby parking lot.

“Suspected firearm confirmed to be a water gun. Lockdown, hold and secure lifted,” they added.

No one was injured.

Police say that the investigation has concluded and both schools have since lifted their respective security measures.

The lockdown at Notre Dame High School, hold and secure at St Timothy’s have been lifted. Thanks to residents for their cooperation while officers on scene conducted the investigation. There are no injuries associated with this occurrence.
