Two people arrested after handgun, drugs found in Hamilton’s east end

Hamilton police have arrested two people as part of a drug investigation after executing search warrants Thursday in Hamilton’s east end.

Officers say they searched a home and a vehicle in the the city’s east end as part of a targeted investigation into illicit drug trafficking and firearm offences.

Investigators say they seized: a loaded Glock 22 handgun, 26 rounds of ammunition, around 35 grams of suspected fentanyl, an amount of codeine and hydromorphone pills, $1,750 in Canadian currency and $170 in U.S. currency.

Police arrested 26-year-old Donovan Hines from Hamilton, and 24-year-old Selena Bockova, who is also from Hamilton.

Both Hines and Bockova were charged jointly with offenses including possessing a loaded, prohibited firearm, possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and having proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Hines was bound by a court-issued weapons prohibition order when he was arrested, and now faces four further counts of possession contrary to order.
