Two men charged after street racing in downtown Hamilton

Two Hamilton men are facing charges after being caught street racing along Barton Street Saturday night.

A pair of police officers were working in the area of Barton Street East and Birch Avenue when they saw two trucks speeding along Barton at around 5 p.m.

The trucks appeared to be racing and attempting to pass one another.

Both trucks went through a red light on Birch Ave. Shortly after, police were able to stop the vehicles and charge both drivers with racing a motor vehicle and failing to stop at a red light.

One driver was given a seven day suspension and the second driver was charged with impaired driving.
