Two big tobacco seizures at border
Federal Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews is commending the Canadian Border Services Agency, after $3.4 million worth of loose tobacco was seized at the Queenston and Peace bridges in Niagara Falls.
The tobacco was found in two separate seizures on January 16th.
One shipment was found in a transport truck, and another in a sea container.
The truck contained 132 boxes of contraband tobacco, while the container contained 99 boxes.
Both shipments were valued at $1.7 million.
Border officials are still investigating the seizures.
No charges have been laid.
