‘Turning Red’ Director and Sheridan grad returns to Oakville to talk to students ahead of movie release

Sheridan alumni Domee She earned her bachelor’s in animation 11 years ago. Her legacy and influence have already been felt.

She burst onto the scene in 2019 after winning the Oscar for best animated short for her movie ‘Bao.’ Since then, Domee continues to tell her story and what better place to start than her hometown of Toronto, which is the backdrop of her first feature, ‘Turning Red’.

Toronto’s diversity is front and centre in ‘Turning Red’ and for many in the audience, it was the first time they saw themselves on screen.

While the movie doesn’t come out until March 11 what it represents is already inspiring future storytellers.
