VIDEO: President Donald Trump convened the first meeting of the Board of Peace Thursday morning, announcing billions of dollars in investment from the U.S. and the board’s member states to rebuild Gaza. While it’s a step forward, the pledges represent a fraction of the estimated 70-billion-dollars needed in the enclave, where a shaky ceasefire deal looms over Trump’s goal of rivaling the United Nations. Along with funding pledges, board members announced the establishment of a Gaza strip governing authority and a “transitional” Palestinian police force. President Trump also reiterated his plans for the board to expand, saying it’ll be “looking over” the United Nations.
